I remember the move up here, to this house…
We had to move away from the old place, which we were renting,
because the landlord would not do anything about the rats that were
invading the place…kinda sad to see a beautiful old house like that
get “let go”…
I’ll never forget the excitement of riding in the car, behind the
moving truck…watching the world pass by through the car
windows…
My driver would point at various landmarks and explain them to me,
and tell me stories about the history of the area we were moving
to. It was very exciting!
First load, when we move, is all the pets, white goods, computers
and other tech. The food and shelves for the pantry…..I travel with
the first load, and stay in the new place, while my Brother and
Cousin finish up closing up the old place….
So my first day at the new place, is usually getting the movers to
put various machines in their new homes…The computers and tech get
stacked on the living area’s floor, to be sorted at my
liesure..
Once the movers and my housemates have gone, I’m in the house,
alone for at least a week…
Did I mention that our pets always come with the first load
too….they are always in my care….
Once we are alone in the house…I take the cats to the room that I
have chosen for us…and cover their carriers, so that they can have
peace, and calm down..
The next few days is putting away “stuff” that the guys send up,
each day…stacking boxes in each persons room…filling the pantry
shelves, working out the cooking schedule, and learning my way
around the house so that I know every fuse, every switch and every
lock…
At some point, my desk will arrive, and I will set up the
computers. I always keep the laptop charged up, for watching videos
outside, so I always have some entertainment between chores…
My first night here, alone but for two scared cats and a worried
Parrot, was a little bit scary. After the sun had gone down, and
I’d finished unpacking for that day, I poured myself a wine and sat
outside to have a cigarette. I was basically just looking at the
houses and cars on the street and didn’t think to look up for a
while…
But when I did….Oh my….

There were so many stars…I’ve never seen that many stars…
